September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Allie was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in 2010 at the young age of 10. Ewing Sarcoma is a type of bone or soft tissue cancer that primarily occurs in children and young adults. While Ewing Sarcoma can develop in any bone, it is most often found in the hip bones, ribs, or long bones. Ewing Sarcoma is the second-most common type of bone cancer. About 225 children and adolescents are diagnosed in the United States each year. While Ewing Sarcoma can occur at any time during childhood, it most commonly develops during puberty, when bones are growing rapidly. It most often occurs in children between the ages of 10 and 20.
Allie was granted her angel wings on April 16, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends, each of whom she had touched in some way throughout her short, yet very memorable life. Those who knew her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She gave us all courage and hope and taught us what it truly means to love and appreciate life.
Although she is no longer physically with us, she lives forever in our hearts, in the quiet breeze, and in the dancing flight of butterflies...

Charities That Meant The World to Allie &
Our Family
Allie spent a lot of her days at the Ronald McDonald House in New York while she was going through cancer treatment. Such a special place. She loved it there so much so that after her initial treatment, she didn't want to come home. They do so much for the kids and their families. Trips, sporting events, family meals, famous people even come to visit! It is a place that makes your child feel normal, and helps them forget that they are sick. We are forever grateful for all of the memories they helped us to create, and all they did for our family! Below is the link for a direct donation to the Ronald McDonald House of New York. Your donation can help provide vital resources and compassionate care to children and families going through the most difficult times of their lives.
When Allie wasn't at the hospital, she was at home spending time in her cozy bedroom made just for her by Make-A-Wish Foundation! They helped her to create the bedroom of her dreams, that fit her personality, from start to finish. Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes can create better health outcomes for kids. Allie's room is so special that we didn't have the heart to change it after all of these years. There are memories, and pieces of her everywhere. It is now her little sister Lulu's room! We know Allie wouldn't mind sharing! That is just who she was!
